The Role
The Senior Naval Architect will be responsible for leading the vessel design process from concept development to detailed engineering, ensuring compliance with client requirements, classification rules, and statutory regulations. The role involves design planning, technical coordination, documentation control, project execution support, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, strong knowledge of marine design software and classification standards, and proven experience in managing vessel design projects from concept to commissioning.
What we are looking for:
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Naval Architecture is mandatory
• 3–8 years of experience in Naval Architecture
• Strong knowledge of classification rules such as ABS, DNV, Lloyd's, and applicable statutory regulations
• Proficiency in marine design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, or similar tools
• Excellent project management and coordination skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Effective communication and leadership skills
• Proven experience in handling projects from concept to commissioning
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, vendors, consultants, and classification bodies
• Strong understanding of vessel design, engineering standards, and production requirements
Responsibilities:
• Lead the overall vessel design process from concept development to detailed engineering
• Develop and monitor design schedules in line with project timelines
• Ensure all designs comply with client specifications, classification society rules, and statutory regulations
• Establish and maintain design standards, procedures, and templates
• Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, material utilization, and production efficiency
• Work closely with Production, Procurement, and Project Management teams
• Liaise with clients for design approvals, clarifications, and technical discussions
• Coordinate with vendors for technical integration of equipment and systems
• Collaborate with consultants and classification bodies to ensure compliance and approval
• Ensure proper document control and revision management
• Manage design changes effectively and maintain traceability of all revisions
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning stages
• Resolve design-related issues arising at the site
• Participate in inspections, sea trials, and testing activities as required
• Lead, mentor, and guide the design team
• Allocate resources and assign responsibilities effectively
• Monitor team performance and support skill development initiatives
