Opportunities to Implement Solar-Electric Boats in Global Pilgrimage Destinations

All over the world, there are several religious locations with significant water bodies associated with them. Travel through those water bodies is also a part of the pilgrimage. This increases the need for boats to travel. With sustainability in mind, religious tourism with solar boats has a great future. For instance, take Varanasi. It is one of the most sacred places in India and one of the oldest living cities in the world. Navalt’s two boats Limo and Maritimus are soon to start operating here. Limo is a 30 pax solar-electric semi-luxury cruise and Maritimus is a double-decker 56 pax semi-luxury cruise for tourism. 

One of our next projects is in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Ram. Our solar electric boat Marsel is already operating in Sarayu ghats and owned by UPNEDA. By next year our next boat Zayle, a double-decker luxury cruise with 150 passenger capacity will be launched there, to enhance religious tourism. 

Odisha is also a major pilgrimage region in India with multiple temples and religious places. Navalt’s Destiny boat is running in  Chilika Lake, Odisha and it is owned by the ports and inland water transport department, Odisha. It is used to serve passengers traveling to the Kaali Jai temple located in the middle of the lake.  

Other than these, we are planning to launch one in the sea of Galili, Israel. It is a religious location where people from around the world come for pilgrimage. This solar electric boat named Jesus’s Boat is built to resemble Jesus’s boat with a capacity of 55 people. It will start operating later this year.
