HISTORY OF

Navalt

Navalt is an eco-marine tech company specialising in the manufacturing of solar electric and hybrid vessels. It was founded in 2013, and head quartered in Kochi, India. Navalt’s flagship solar-electric ferry, “Aditya,” is also India’s first solar ferry. Aditya is recognised as the world’s best ferry boat in 2020 as recipient of the Gustave Trouvé Award. Srav, the solar fishing boat also won the award for the world’s best work boat in 2022. In 2023 we launched India’s largest solar electric boat, Indra and India’s fastest electric boat, Barracuda.

Navalt is the most experienced solar electric vessel manufacturer in India and probably the world with over 82 vessel-years under its experience. There are twenty-nine boats in operation and another 34 under construction taking the total vessels to 63 by end of 2024.

Navalt is pushing the applications to new areas beyond public transport, tourism and fishing by building vessels for vehicle transport, defence. The vessels sizes have also increased with the biggest under contraction reaching 50 m and 80 tonnes carrying capacity. Navalt is developing larger vessels, currently in the design stage. These include 60 T bollard pull electric tug under the “Green Tug Transition program”, 1200 T Electric Bulk Carrier and 1200 T Electric Tanker for the NW1 and NW2 operation.

As we advance into the future as a marine technology leader, pushing the boundaries of efficiency in solar electric vessel manufacturing, we are confident that the future of the wide blue ocean will be absolutely electrified!
