ADITYA – India’s First & Largest Solar Ferry Launched Today

It is a proud moment to announce the launch of ADITYA, the first solar ferry and largest solar boat of India. The grand launching ceremony was jointly inaugurated by Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister and MNRE Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in presence of Kerala state Transport Minister Shri A K Saseendran and members of parliament and state assembly.

 After the formal inauguration, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan and other dignitaries took a ride from Vaikom to Thavanakadavu in India’s first solar ferry.

During the event state government, has submitted the proposal to roll out 10 more solar ferries and Shri Piyush Goyal conveyed that the state’s request will be considered positively by the central government.

The service will run between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day. Ferries will depart every 10 minutes during morning and evening rush hours, and every 15 minutes off-peak, taking commuters from the one end to the other end. ADITYA, the India’s first solar ferry has the capacity of 75 passengers, it’s maximum speed is 7.5 knots, there is no fossil fuel on board
