India’s First Solar Ferry successfully completed the Initial trials in Kochi

In Kerala back waters, began trials for India’s First Solar Powered Ferry. During the initial trials under the supervision of technical committee, IRS and Kerala ports surveyor’s vessel maneuvering and endurance was tested.

 

On November 10th, the vessel was launched into the back waters in Aroor. The vessel commissioning under the supervision of French team was completed on 14th and she was ready for trials. During the initial trials, she sailed as expected and attained the full speed of 7.5 knots at a lower power than assumed.

 

The solar boat (assumed name “Aditya”) will be leaving Aroor in about a week to start extended trials in the operating location of Vaikom – Thavanakadavu Route till the delivery and inauguration.

 

The naming and hand-over ceremonies of the 75-passenger vessel which runs on solar power, will be held end of the month.
